Antimicrobial drug discovery through bacteriophage genomics
Article Abstract:
A unique protein is developed that arrest critical cellular processes to commit bacterial host metabolism to phage reproduction applied to antibiotic discovery. The results of this development showed the growth inhibitory effect of phage polypeptides by a chemical compound, coupled with the plethora of phages on earth, will yield new antibiotics to combat infectious diseases.

Phage display extends its reach
Article Abstract:
The phage display is limited to the subset of proteins, because the phage coat is assembled in the periplasm, which could be overcome by targeting proteins for export through the signal recognition particle (SRP)-dependent pathway. It is suggested that SRP-dependent signal sequences are useful for efficient periplasmic expression of proteins for a wide variety of purposes.

Reinventing phage therapy: Are the parts greater than the sum?
Article Abstract:
Research groups are concentrating on phage as adjunct therapies in the control of bacterial pathogens that have emerged as resistant to some. Several research groups are developing whole phage as alternative treatments, the isolation and optimization of purified phage components as antibacterial opens up new areas in the fight against bacterial infections.
