Apple-IBM joint venture appointment triggers mixed reaction
Article Abstract:
Joseph M. Guglielmi was named chairman and CEO of Taligent Inc, a joint venture of IBM Corp and Apple Computer Inc. The company was formed to develop and sell operating-system software. Guglielmi worked with IBM for 30 years as general manager of marketing and business development for personal computers. While some industry observers laud Guglielmi's appointment, others say that his past performance involving the unsuccessful OfficeVision software and the OS/2 operating system raises some doubt on his marketing competence.
