Are you on the ball with the Euro?
Article Abstract:
Several companies are preparing themselves for the coming of Europe's new currency, the Euro. To effectively meet the change, company treasurers must update all computer systems and reassign European currency traders. Also, a Euro trader must be properly trained and all employees must be properly notified of the change-over including its effect on their wages and benefits. The treasurer must be able to explain how the transformation will affect all divisions and overall company results and compare them to previous company results. Risks managers must handle contracts that will expire before 1999 by preparing a financial risk management policy.

Washington's agenda for corporate America
Article Abstract:
Corporate treasurers are beginning to realize the growing politicization of their positions and the need for them to be more pro-active in providing constructive input to their firms. Aside from the treasurer's ever-widening role, the federal government is also expected to implement regulations on electronic commerce, pension funding, tax policy, securities reform and workplace issues in its 1997 agenda, all of which will impact the corporate treasury function. Local and state legislative and regulatory issues are also among treasurer's concerns.
