Article Abstract:
Simula Safety Systems, Phoenix, Arizona is being awarded a delivery order amount of $7,105,000 as part of a $11,573,782 (cumulative total) firm-fixed-price contract for UH-60A/L Cockpit Air Bag System (CABS) Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP), to produce 275 UH-60 CABS LRIP B-kits plus 15 spare B-kits. UH-60A/L A-kits, to be produced under a future effort, shall consist of: mounting hardware; interconnection cables between all B-kit components and aircraft power; and Modification Work Order (MWO) instructions to enable a qualified maintenance team to install the A-kit in the helicopter in prescribed time. The B-kit shall consist of: a set of air bags; a gas generator for inflation of each air bag; an omnidirectional, software-programmable Electronic Crash Sensor Unit (ESCU) with a readiness status indicator and back-up power source for initiating the gas generators in the event of a loss of aircraft power. Work will be performed in Tempe, Arizona, and is expected to be completed by Dec. 30, 2000. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There was one bid solicited on July 11, 1996 and one bid received. The contracting activity is the U. S. Army Aviation & Missile Command (AMCOM), Fort Eustis, Virginia (DAAJ02-96-0045).

Parsons Infrastructure, Pasadena, Calif., was awarded on Feb. 18, 1999, an $11,506,030 increment as part of a $295,496,717 cost-plus-award-fee contract for the design, construction, operation, and closure of the Newport Chemical Agent Disposal Facility. Work will be performed at the Newport Chemical Depot, Newport, Ind., and is expected to be completed by Dec. 16, 2005. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 32 bids solicited on March 9, 1998, and two bids were received. The U.S. Army Armament, Munitions & Chemical Command, Rock Island, Ill., is the contracting activity (DAAA09-99-C-0016).
