Army to re-compete security pacts after Wackenhut lapses: Union
Article Abstract:
The Army is planning to re-compete contracts in order to provide security at several bases after the Government Accountability Office (GAO) reported numerous problems involved in the contracts including inadequate training and incomplete background checks that led to employment of officers with criminal records. With respect to this, the Army's no-bid contract with Alutiiq Security and Technology, with limited previous security experience, would be put out to competitive bidding.

Analyst gives C-27J advantage in Joint Cargo Contest
Article Abstract:
The US Army is most likely to choose to award the Joint Cargo Aircraft (JCA) program contract to its rival C-27J. According to a defense analyst, Richard Aboulafia, the service would choose the rival offering, only if it seeks a more affordable option. The agreement would preclude the Army from operating most-fixed-wing aircraft, leaving that mission to the Air Force.
