Asia upset and HSBC
Article Abstract:
HSBC is a banking group which owns HongKong and Shanghai Bank, as well as Midland Bank. The group's stocks have been affected by the Asian financial crisis and only one broker of a sample of six rates HSBC stocks a buy. This broker is Charterhouse Tilney which sees the banks' franchise value and size as providing protection. Four brokers rate HSBC stocks a hold, and they are Fox-Pitt Kelton, Merrill Lynch, UBS and Panmure Gordon. One broker rates HSBC stocks a sell, and that is Paribas, which is concerned about the impact of bankruptcies and real estate problems in Asia on HSBC.

Solve your current account misery
Article Abstract:
A banking survey carried out by Abbey National of United Kingdom checking accounts found some 2.5 million customers dissatisfied. Complaints included lack of interest payments for accounts in credit, poor service, and charges on authorized overdrafts. Consumers should seek good rates of interest when they are in credit. Charges for overdrafts vary widely, and the main four banks charge monthly for overdrafts that are authorized. Customers may also need good cash point networks and check guarantee, cash point and debt cards.

A current account isn't for life
Article Abstract:
Some 75% of adults in the United Kingdom have checking accounts, and many account holders could benefit from lower charges or higher rates of interest by changing their account. High interest rates are important for people who do not go into debt, while low borrowing rates and fees are important for those who sometimes go into debt. Unauthorized overdrafts tend to be expensive and banks charge for letters written to borrowers to tell them that they are in debt.
