Article Abstract:
The sudden technology sector crash is treated as a natural experiment to investigate how dramatic changes in resource availability in the e-commerce sector affect stock market response to interfirm alliances. The findings demonstrate the importance of environmental conditions and how these affect stock interpretation of signals inherent in alliance announcements.

The dyadic dynamics of positioning of services by consulting firms is examined. Results indicate that positioning is both dynamic and multidimensional in nature, with firms maximizing the advantages of positioning either near or far, while minimizing the disadvantages.
