Bell helicopter completes UCAR design
Article Abstract:
Bell Helicopter, a member of Lockheed Martin Corp.'s team for the Army's UCAR program, has completed the preliminary design for a novel air vehicle for the Unmanned Combat Armed Rotorcraft (UCAR) project. Bell has analyzed 13 concepts from advanced, slowed rotor helicopters through very high-speed vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) fan-in-wing configurations selecting a heavy fuel advanced compound helicopter concept to obtain efficient vertical lift and speed capabilities in excess of 170 knots.

Mid-range UAV sensors can 'lock' on enemy: Company
Article Abstract:
Optical Alchemy, Inc., based in Maynard, Massachusetts, has come up with a sensor product line will address two significant practical problems limiting the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The sensor product line, which includes KJ-600 series and KJ-800 series sensor suites, addresses the precision locating and sheer bulk problems and these two advantages can open up a possibility of deploying small, relatively low-cost UAVs that can dispense precise location information about enemy targets.
