Beware the magnificent seven
Article Abstract:
The seven corporations whose technology stock share prices increased by around 133% in 1998 and whose shares are currently selling on an average multiple of 68 times their earnings, are Microsoft, Intel, Cisco Systems, MCI Worldcom, Dell Computer, Oracle and Sun Microsystems. Their market value represents 66% of the entire Nasdaq 100 index market value, which creates a false impression of the success of the index, and reflects the way market valued-weighted indices work. Nasdaq is a barometer of the new industrial revolution in America.

Dynamics of a growing equity market
Article Abstract:
The German stock market has benefited from an increase in popularity of equity ownership. A private equity market is developing with changes affecting medium-sized companies in Germany, and managment buyouts are likely to become more popular. Technology companies are also becoming more important. Neuer Markt has been set up for nascent technology firms, and has reached a target to have 20 companies listed before 12 months had elapsed.
