Bipartisan analysts ask Hill to add troops

A bipartisan group of policy analysts is asking the Congress to increase the size of the Army and Marine Corps substantially. The United States military is too small for the responsibilities such as national security, global peace and stability, and the defense and promotion of freedom in the post 9/11 world, which requires a larger military force than the present one.

Analyst calls weapons buys 'amazing' given Pentagon mismanagement

A well-known military analyst stated in March 2006 that the United States outspends other nations on defense, but the Pentagon is able to procure weapons systems at all, given program mismanagement. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld issued a memo that pointed out that the US spends more on defense than the next 15 nations combined.
