Discipline and reforms begin to bear fruit
Article Abstract:
Despite the complete loss of 22 banks owing to 2000-2001 crisis, the growth in Turkish economy is increasing investor confidence. Turkey's commitment to strong policy choices under the IMF program and the prospects of European Union (EU) succession is turning Turkey the gateway to the East for the Western world. The political stability and the price stability are the two factors that the investors are looking at as vital to the reform process. The effects of the reforms on the inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) are examined.
