Body Shop ponders a farewell to the City
Article Abstract:
Body Shop International could go private, though formal plans for such a move have not been made. Body Shop shares rose after rumors that its founders would make a bid. The company has had a difficult relationship with the City of London, and the group has seen a drop in profits in the US. Institutional investors have made criticisms of the board, which may have been behind changes made in 1994. More than 50% of the group's shares are owned by its founders, the Roddicks and Ian McGlinn.
