Boeing, Northrop Grumman post blistering double-digit profit gains

The Boeing Co. and Northrop Grumman Corp., which occupy the second and third position among the largest defense contractors, showed good financial results for the month from July 2004 to September 2004. Boeing profits, which were attributed due to the Pentagon contract, increased above $256 million in the last quarter in 2003 and for Northrop Grumman had soaring earnings and a $1 billion stock buyback.

Northrop Grumman Corp., the third-largest defense contractor predicted higher sales and profits gains for 2005 in response to the increased profit in the existing year 2004 and also, announced a two-for-one stock split and raised its stock dividend. It is reported that Northrop Grumman had its profits increased by 31 percent and the profit rise was mainly attributed to the Pentagon contracts

AIA forecast: Military plane sales growth to nosedive

The Aerospace Industry Association (AIA) has forecasted that military aircraft sales growth would decrease in 2006, from a strong 7.3% rise in 2005 to a weak 1.6% advance in 2006, and has described the condition of the defense and aerospace industrial base to be fragile. John Douglass, AIA president and CEO, has presented the situation of the defense and aerospace industry in the 2006.
