Boeing total profits jump 29.3 percent, but defense area weakens

The Boeing Company, the second largest defense contractor reported in April 2006 that its profits soared 29.3 percent to $692 million in the first three months of 2006, compared to the $535 million of net income in the same period 2005. But the Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) saw a 5.5 percent decline in revenues and a 3.9 percent drop in profits, on weaker performance in proprietary and commercial satellite programs, strike-delayed launches and the sale of the Rocketdyne business in 2005.

Boeing reports mixed bag of military aircraft sales

The Boeing Company supplied a mixed proportion of military aircraft in fourth quarter of 2005 and for the full year. However, an increase in the order of AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopter and the commercial aircrafts with Boeing regaining its lost status of being the topmost builder of commercial airplanes for the airline industry was witnessed with a decline in the order of Super hornets and C-40 aircraft.

Boeing earnings fall in 2nd quarter, but defense unit scores well

The April to June 2005 period witnessed low profits for the Boeing Co., the second-largest defense contractor, while the Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) unit reported sharp rise in earnings for the same period. The Boeing IDS posted second-quarter revenue for 2005 of $7.7 billion, or a 6.9 percent increase over the $7.2 billion the unit generated in the same period in 2004.
