Boeing wins nearly $1 billion Super Hornet Support deal

The US Navy has awarded a five-year performance-based logistics contract of $995 million for F/A-18E/F Super Hornet Integrated Readiness Support Teaming (FIRST) program to the Boeing Company. The contract adds features including automated maintenance environment, an integrated software program that improves maintenance data, fault diagnosis and decisions, and integrated electronic technical manuals for F/A-18 A-D models.

Navy to save money with new contract awards system

The Navy officials declared that they might have to save nearly $2 billion or more over 15 years to develop a new and efficient method for awarding contracts. The Navy is in need to build 14 ships a year to grow from 295 vessels to a 375 craft fleet, which implies the requirement of substantial fund for shipbuilding.
