Young says $800 million needed for new-build CH-53X helicopter

John Young, assistant secretary of the Navy handling procurement issues, has told the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) that the Navy requires $800 million more over the next five years if it has to procure a new-build CH-53X helicopter. He has stated that he won't be signing the contract for the program unless he gets a proper commitment for funding the new-build program fully.

Northrop Grumman gains $558.6 million for CVN 21

The Navy gave Northrop Grumman Corp. a $ 558.6-million contract change to continue work on the next-generation CVN 21 aircraft carrier. The CVN 21 carrier would be able to generate more aircraft sorties per day and thus place more steel on targets due to high-speed weapons elevators and pit stop refueling areas on deck.
