Brave new world
Article Abstract:
The defense industry has been affected by the end of the Cold War, but parts of the industry are still profitable, and defense is the biggest United Kingdom export activity. UK companies account for a fifth of the world market. Defense cuts have hit the US and Europe, and the UK adapted more rapidly to changes in the market than did the defense industry inmainland Europe. Peripheral activities have been sold and cooperation has increased in aerospace. The UK has become cost-competitive and efficient.
