CEOs endorse F-35, upbeat in progress

According to Lockheed Martin, the business and military leaders who are responsible for the development of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) are excited about the recent progress made in the project. The leaders of this project endorsed and pledged the required support in completing the trade studies, taking corrective actions and accelerating the pace, which will help in stabilizing the program and completing it before the Critical Design review in 2005.

Raptor development problems could afflict JSF: Roche
Article Abstract:
Roche, the Air Force secretary noted that the JSF program, intended to provide a common aircraft for the Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps as well as the U.K. military, is only two years old but has run into delays. Roche states that the Air Force is considering several options to get back on schedule for initial operational test and evaluation, which Raptor must pass before the Pentagon can approve full-rate production.

Weight coming off STOVL JSF variant
Article Abstract:
Designers have made significant weight reductions in the weight of F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) and short take-off and vertical landing (STOVL) intended for the Marine Corps. Following the decision to reduce the weight, the Pentagon has added one year and granted additional $5 billion to the development program.
