CEZ saves proceeds by exports

CEZ (Prague, Czech Republic), power company, plans to increase its net profit by CEK 1 bil in 2001 compared to the originally expected CEK 5.4 bil. The firm produced 50.8 TWh of electric power in 2000. It exported 25% of the quantity. The exports replaced the drop of CEZ's supplies to the domestic market. The firm had a 64% share on the domestic market in 2000 compared to 72% in 1999. It saw total revenues of CEK 58.7 bil in 2000, CEK 900 mil less compared to 1999. It lowered its stock by 11% and increased its profit by CEK 3.7 bil in 2000 compared to 1999. CEZ started to decrease the number of its employees in 2000. The number should decrease to 7,800 in Dec 2000 compared to 9,266 persons at the beginning of 2000. CEZ's productivity of labour rose by 18% in 2000 compared to 1999.

EOP pays CEK 1 bil

Elektrarny Opatovice (EOP) (Opatovice nad Labem, Czech Republic), power company, will pay extra dividends of CEK 1.19 bil in Apr 2001, CEK 1,028 per share. The majority of the dividends will be paid to International Power (IP) (UK), which holds a 96% stake in EOP. IP enforced the payment of the dividends at EOP's general assembly in Mar 2001. IP wants to use the finances for its prepared investments in the Czech Republic including the purchase of the power centre of the paper firm Frantschach Pulp & Paper (Steti, Czech Republic), formerly Sepap. EOP is one of the largest independent electric power and heat producers in the Czech Republic.

Elektrarny Opatovice (EOP) (Opatovice nad Labem, Czech Republic), electric power and heat producer, increased its net profit to CEK 642 mil in 2000. The sum is 16% higher compared to 1999. The firm's proceeds rose by 11% to CEK 2.77 bil in 2000 compared to 1999. EOP has more than a 96% stake held by International Power (UK).
