Merial and Remedyne sign DAM vaccine research agreement

Remedyne Corp. and Merial formed an agreement to use Remedyne's DNA Adenine Methylase (DAM) technology to develop animal vaccines. Remedyne is also using the technology to develop vaccines for humans. The DAM enzyme helps to regulate virulence genes in many bacteria. Remedyne's technology disrupts the enzyme, providing a superior immune response against infectious diseases.

At the first global International Conference on Prevention and Control of Foot and Mouth Disease in Brussels, the issue of whether or not to vaccinate animals was discussed. Vaccination has long been debated as a preventative measure against Foot and Mouth disease. Though seriously debated, the international question largely remains unanswered.
