The Kleinwort Benson Private Bank Client Account is a new development in private banking services in the United Kingdom. The account charges overdrafts at mortgage rates, and is geared to individuals with annual incomes of over 50,000 pounds sterling. Account holders have client managers, who provide a safety net. The bank is seeking to establish itselfin this market. Some other private banks argue that such a products is not necessary, and some private banks do not provide current accounts.

There is much variety in the private banking sector, with each bank having its own particular bias. Only a few have a list of preconditions of personal wealth or income and most want clients who they know will use their investment management services. Many banks advocate the use of an account handler but clients with a prime areas of interest will want to deal with the person actively managing their account and not an intermediary.
