Changing to compete in the textile industry
Article Abstract:
Accountants can play a major part in increasing the competitiveness of textile companies by helping to change organizational structures, manufacturing methods, and costing structures. Accountants should be aware that the indirect costs associated with changes and new equipment can often exceed the direct costs of new equipment. Accountants can reduce work in progress costs by managing varying materials yields, long production changeovers, and changing production schedules. Accountants can help with new weaving equipment decisions by evaluating overall efficiency, energy costs, and maintenance costs. Accountants can also improve textile company performance by reassessing the efficiency of traditional cost accounting methods.
