There are a number of possible bancassurance deals that could take place in the United Kingdom after the planned acquisition of Legal and General by NatWest. There is speculation of a possible acquisition by Barclays of an insurer, and Norwich Union has been suggested as a possible target. CGU could be attarctive in terms of price, though it is large. Bank of Scotland or Royal Bank of Scotland could be a potential partner for a major insurer, or CGU may be interested in Abbey National or Halifax.
