Ethical investors are seeking to improve companies' environmental standards. Shell has become a target for ethical investors and faces a resultion at the may 1997 shareholders' meeting to improve its policies on human rights and the environment. Pirc, a pressure group concerned with corporate governance, and the Eucemenical Council for Corporate Responsibility have lodged the resolution which is supported by over 100 shareholders representing almost 1% of the company's shares.
