Cordiant bids adieu
Article Abstract:
Cordiant is to undergo a demerger with Bates and Saatchi and Saatchi to be separately listed, each holding a stake of 50% in Zenith. Bates was acquired by Saatchi and Saatchi in 1986, and has been affected by Procter and Gamble's insistence that agencies do not carry out work for competitors. Zenith deals with Cordiant's media buying and is dependent on both Saatchi and Saatchi and Bates. Buyers could appear prior to the demerger, though Charles and Maurice Saatchi are unlikely to be buyers.

Mythical aegis of takeovers
Article Abstract:
UK advertising group WPP may have bid for media-buying firm Tempus, but it is not clear whether WPP Chief Exec Martin Sorrell is really interested in Tempus or rival media-buyer Aegis. Aegis could help make WPP the largest media-buying business in the world.
