Communication key to marketing success
Article Abstract:
A benchmarking study by a unit of the American Productivity and Quality Center among eight best practice marketing communications organizations found that business enterprises with the most outstanding communications practices employ people who effectively relate internally to employees and externally to customers and suppliers. The common variable among the eight firms established by the study was that accomplishing coordination of communication cannot be done by issuing an order or by written policy.

Reed Elsevier reinstates Cahners name; publisher sees strength in original brand after weighing alternatives

A trade magazine publisher, formerly known as Cahners Publishing Co and Reed Elsevier Business Information, has selected Cahners Business Information as its new company name. Company executives explained that they chose the name because it reflected the quality and excellence of its publications and its shift from publishing to business information. The company plans to launch a corporate branding campaign which will introduce the new name and a new logo.

Plumbing products manufacturer Amtrol Inc. is slowly entering the do-it-yourself market with the help of Gaskell Assoc., a marketing communications company based in Westport, CT. Amtrol's core business is the professional plumbing market, which it would like to protect from the potential adverse effects of the expansion into the $126-billion do-it-yourself business. Amtrol had sales of $175 million in 1994.
