Computational design and experimental validation of oligonucleotide-sensing allosteric ribozymes
Article Abstract:
A study describes a computational strategy for designing new allosteric ribozyme constructs that exhibit robust allosteric activation upon the addition of specific oligonucleotides. The utility of the method is demonstrated by the creation and testing of four universal types of molecular switches possessing AND, OR, YES, and NOT Boolean logic functions, which allows ligand specificity to be changed without altering the catalytic core of the ribozyme.

Prospects for plant-derived antibacterials
Article Abstract:
Plants have their own defense mechanism in combating pathogen infections and this system rivals that of mammalian immune system. Certain chemicals or genome sequences in plants help them fight against infections and researchers are presently paying attention on this ability of plant phytochemicals by combining synergistically to produce new antibacterial treatments.
