GAO says DOD obscures weapons cost increases
Article Abstract:
The Government Accountability Agency (GAO) has stated in a report that the Department of Defense (DOD) masks the true increase in costs of weapons systems it procures by using an accounting tactic called "rebaselining". This means that members of Congress do not receive information on weapons cost increases in time to act on those facts.

Congress, administration to seek common ground on export controls

The Congress leaders and Bush administration policy makers have agreed to negotiate workable controls on arms exports. They will work on this issue with the goal of producing an agreement, which is workable, but still effective, with regulations.
