Corporate social responsibility and financial performance: correlation or misspecification?
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and economic performance are examined, focusing on the limitations of previous studies and isolating one particular econometric flaw. The flaw is related to not accounting for investment in research and development (R&D), which may be serious since investment may be related to profitability and benefits associated with R&D may also be associated with CSR.

Managerial discretion and internal alignment under regulatory constraints and change
Article Abstract:
The effects of regulations on managerial discretion and internal fit is investigated within the context of the U.S. airline industry. It is revealed that managers compensate by practicing a greater level of discretion in some other area when their discretion is limited in an area of their choice.
