Cyber-crime's looming threat
Article Abstract:
The ever-increasing variety of financial services being proffered through the Internet has thus far not caused financial institutions any problems with regard to fraud. However, these organizations ought to already develop and implement strong, defensive security measures as the possibility of Internet-related crimes cannot be dismissed. The issue of security has become increasingly important because more banks and other financial intermediaries are establishing an Internet presence. Roughly 3,000 banks and thrift entities already host their own Internet World Wide Web sites, which help serve six million households that conduct some of their transactions electronically. Banks ought to install sophisticated encryption technology as one of their measures to preserve the trust of clients and keep cyber criminals at bay.
