DRS awarded $34 million in naval power system pact

The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and various Navy shipyards have awarded several new contracts, worth $34 million, to DRS Technologies, Inc. to design and produce gear for Navy ships and submarines. The firm would be providing power conversion, distribution and control equipment, and advanced propulsion equipment for next-generation and existing class of Navy combatant surface ships and submarines.

Army light helo contracts not a lock for U.S. companies
Article Abstract:
The European companies are making efforts to acquire contracts to build light helicopters for the Army in an area where their products are competitive with the U.S. models. Even though the Congress is against buying foreign weapons, the Army still continues to dictate that the contracts for 322 light-utility and 368-armed reconnaissance helicopters have to go to the U.S. firms
