Article Abstract:
David Meckel is the vice president of the California College of Arts and Crafts (CCAC). Under Meckel's supervision, the CCAC moved from the East bay campus to a 120,000 square-foot building in San Francisco. He was trying to position the CCAC as a center for the local design community. After training as an architect at the University of Southern California, Meckel entered the Eames office in 1975. He assisted in the direction of environmental design for the 1984 L.A. Olympics. His plan of purchasing a modern industrial building will enable housing of CCAC's design programs and art departments.
