Dependence between performance, strain and strategies for an activity involving informational load
Article Abstract:
Arithmetical performance is dependent on strain, strategy-related aim of simplifying task execution, and arithmetical ability of the concerned person. An experiment uses a concentration performance test involving arithmetical operations to measure the level of strain during task processing in 38 university students. Multiple regression analysis is used to determine the relationship between strain, arithmetical performance, and strategy-related variables. The method is useful in industrial activities involving informational load, where an optimal performance strategy cannot be provided.

Mental strain and the problem of repeated measurements
Article Abstract:
Surveys to measure stress and strain arising from undertaking mentally demanding tasks require repeated investigation. However the individual measurement procedures used in surveys may lead to a change in the stress situation and the resulting mental strain. Experiments investigating this hypothesis verified that repeated measurements have a similar effect as a short break, and the repeated measurements taken are likely to affect the conditions of stress.

Goal difficulty, anxiety and performance
Article Abstract:
The impact of manipulating objective goal difficulty is examined by observing the processes of subjective goal difficulty, goal acceptance and effort and the anxiety and self-confidence response, along with subsequent performance. Two types of goals are assigned, namely, specific goals and general goals. Results indicate that elevated cognitive and/or somatic anxiety affect performance on a simple perceptuo-motor task, at least at low absolute levels.
