Private banks can aid people with large divorce settlements, and these people, usually women, often need help because they have to tackle financial and administrative problems on their own. Law firms may notify banks when clients are due to receive large sums as a settlement. Banks hope to set up a long-term relationship with the client. They initially have to assess the client's anticipated cash flow and outgoings for legal fees and living expenses. Relationship management is important in this activity.

Article Abstract:

Stock prices have tended to perform well between Nov and Apr every year compared with the summer period. Risk-adjusted returns are also higher for Nov to April investments, and fund management companies could have offered funds based on this seasonal effect. The effect appears to have weakened during the start of the 1980s, but has returned from 1995. There is no explanation as to why this seasonal pattern should exist, but it could be linked to higher risk levels for which higher returns are expected.
