Doing a Number on AT&T
Article Abstract:
Now that AT&T has broken up, the competition for lower long distance telephone rates is even fiercer. There were four major competitors for the long distance business before the breakup, with MCI being the largest. The others are Sprint, Allnet, and United States Telephone. Advertising has increased and gotten more creative from all of the companies. Celebrities often are used now to attract business. Most analysts agree that AT&T will hold the largest market share for a long time to come because most people do not want to be bothered with having to change.
