First Choice is a UK tour operator which has been affected by risisng in taxation and interest rates which have hit disposable incomes, and by a fall in the value of pound sterling. Bookings fell in Jan 1995, and UK tour operators are involved in price competition. The company shed 260 jobs through redundancies in 1994, affecting results for that year. First Choice has increased its market share, but conditions in the market are deteriorating. Investors are recommended to sell shares in this company in June 1995.

Thomson touches down
