Why feeling bad is not perverse
Article Abstract:
Analysts have argued that UK voters feel confident about the economy when inflation and unemployment are low. There is a low levels of consumer confidence in the UK in 1995, despite economic recovery. This is partly becasue unemployment rates are still high compared with the average for the previous 25 years, and low inflation is seen by many as a problem due to lower house prices affecting net wealth. Employment is more precarious, and share and bond prices have fallen. These trends are likely to continue, undermining personal wealth.

Population and the pound in your pocket
Article Abstract:
Ideology can affect the UK economy, for example the rise of liberal ideology helped companies boost their share of national income from the 1980s. Demography can also affect the economy. The rise in the birth rate in the early 1960s helped control inflation when these workers came onto the labor market. The drop in the birth rate from 1967 will mean fewer workers coming onto the market. This could lead to inflation unless the demand for labor drops.
