Dot-com stampede boosts financial PR, but is jig up?

Financial PR professionals experienced overall success in 1999 which they owed mainly to dot-com companies. BSMG ranked second in a ranking of financial PR firms for 1999 with $42.7 million and almost 8 growth. BSMG Financial Relations Board CEO/Vice Chmn Ted Pincus attributed the company's growth to its contracts with leading e-commerce firms such as About.com and Juno Online. Fleishman-Hillard ranked as No 1 in the list with $65 million and a growth of over 12%.

J&C merges with C&C to keep independence in Boston

Jackson and Co and Clarke and Co, both of Boston, Massachusetts, have combined to create a firm that has more than 40 staffers and projected fees of $6 million. Terry Clarke and Sally Jackson, the companies' owners, turned down the overtures of giant ad holding companies because it meant losing control over their own destiny. Another benefit derived from the merger is maintaining an independent voice in Boston.
