General Electric Company PLC's managing director, George Simpson, aims to move away from JVs, and focus on defense electronics, industrial activities and telecoms. This will involve the sale of some subsidiaries, carrying out acquisitions, and the demerger of GEC-Alsthom. The process will take from three to four years, according to Simpson. The company's stock price dropped by 6% following his announcement. GEC-Alsthom is seen as the most urgent issue.
