Tap into the dealing revolution
Article Abstract:
UK stockbrokers are increasingly using the Internet to make on-line services available to investors. Owners of PCs can gain access to a wide range of information. A real-time share dealing service was launched in the UK in Sep 1995 by ShareLink and ESI, a software company from Cambridge, England. Fidelity is developing a service to give access to Fidelity Brokerage using a private link rather than the Internet. Some brokers also have screens at some of their branches which customers can use.

Nominees in bad odour
Article Abstract:
Nominee accounts for stockholders caninvolve a loss of stockholder rights since beneficial ownership is retained but not legal ownership. Nominee accounts may be a cheaper way to deal and can cut transaction times. There is increasing pressure on private investors to use nominees accounts in the United Kingdom. Stockbrokers are concerned the corporate nominee accounts present unfair competition and they have complained to the Office of Fair Trading.
