European Aerospace Defense and Space Company (EADS) would be making an announcement regarding its entry into the Army's Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) program on August 24, 2005. The firm plans to bid its EC-145 helicopter, which offers a maximum weight of 7,903 pounds and capacity for one pilot plus nine passengers and has two Turbomeca ARRIEL IE2 engines and provides a fast cruise speed of 245 per hour, in the contest.

Naming potential aircraft options, Army gives Lockheed 60 days to fix ACS

The US Army has given Lockheed Martin Corporation 60 days to offer it the alternatives to the Embraer ERJ 145, which the contractor used as the basis of its winning bid in 2004 for the program. The army has identified The Bombardier BD-700 Global Express, Gulfstream G550, Embraer 190, and Boeing 737 as the possible options if Lockheed Martin failed to meet the set deadline.

The US army plans to award a contract by the end of July 2005 to buy it Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter (ARH), while it plans to issue a request for proposals (RFP) for its Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) by July 26, 2005. The Army would award a $2.4 billion contract to acquire 368 aircraft and issue a final RFP to acquire 322 LUH helicopters.
