Effects of computer mouse design and task on carpal tunnel pressure
Article Abstract:
Intensive computer mouse use has been linked to an increased risk of upper extremity musculoskeletal disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Different designs of computer mouse were examined to determine the influence on wrist postures and carpal tunnel pressure. In three computer mice, no significant differences in wrist posture or carpal tunnel pressure were seen, although there was a major increase in carpal tunnel pressure when using the mouse, than when resting the hand on the mouse.

Wrist and forearm postures and motions during typing
Article Abstract:
A laboratory study undertook to measure wrist and forearm joint postures and motions of typists when typing at a computer workstation configured to a common guideline. The study showed that typing posture is distinguished by sustained wrist extension, wrist ulnar deviation and forearm pronation. Most subjects typed with a mean wrist extension angle larger than 15 degrees, with over one-quarter typing with a mean wrist extension of larger than 30 degrees, on an 'ideal' workstation.

Evaluation of a dynamic arm support for seated and standing tasks: A laboratory study of electromyography and subjective feedback
Article Abstract:
An experiment that was carried out to find whether dynamic forearm support system reduced static upper extremity and shoulder muscle activity and if the subjective measures of usability are improved is described. Improvement in the dynamic forearm support brought comfort and reduced static muscle loads especially in the upper extremity of jobs that required the arms to move horizontally.
