Does display configuration affect information sampling performance?
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the a visual display's spatial configuration to determine if it affects information sampling performance. Ten participants were subjected to a two-session visual test consisting of 216 trials in each session. Participants were presented with shape- and letter-matrix cards. The four factors evaluated are the shape type, target set size, display configuration and the Interstimulus Interval. Results showed that participants respond better to single, spatially contiguous locations than to separate areas.

Stimulus size scaling and foveal load as determinants of peripheral target detection
Article Abstract:
Two experiments were conducted to determine the impact of scaling the size of stimuli on the detection of peripheral visual targets using factors derived from consideration of cortical magnification. The first experiment showed that scaling of object size can improve performance fo the type of peripheral target detection task used. The second experiment revealed that foveal load interfered with peripheral target detection for half M-scaled and non-scaled stimuli as indicated by performance decrement ratios.
