Energy: the restructuring of an industry
Article Abstract:
The UK energy industry is restructuring as competition is being introduced. TransCo has been set up by British Gas for gas transportation. Deregulation has also changed the gas supply market. Electricity generators will face competition from independent producers. Further deregulation is planned for the UK gas and electricity industries in the three years from 1995. Individual customers may be able to choose suppliers, though the situation in Northern Ireland has yet to be clarified.
