Ergonomics and the quality movement
Article Abstract:
Ergonomists and management theorists have been taking quality-driven trends for granted. Ergonomists in particular should exert effort to contribute to, and learn from, ergonomics and quality initiatives being done in various business environments. At worst, ergonomists should be aware of the adverse human impacts of quality initiatives. Ergonomics and quality efforts will initiate debates on systems approaches to organization design and leadership, strategic issues, technological consequences and measurement-based operations.

Biomechanical, physiological and psychophysical evaluations of clean room boots
Article Abstract:
The way in which boot sole properties can reduce fatigue and the effects of load carrying and walking on biomechanical, psychophysical and physiological responses and the measurements correlations are discussed. Important effects were observed on the outcome variables as a result of elasticity and shock absorption of the boot and it revealed that the biomechanics of the foot/floor contact did not change over time although human response to this contact did.

A model for movement time on data-entry keyboards
Article Abstract:
A model which analyzes the correlation between keyboard design and movement time between keys when the movements are controlled visually with single finger operation was presented. The results showed that a gap between individual keys equal to the width of the finger pad between results in optimum key width.
