Europe edges closer to GMO patent harmonization
Article Abstract:
The European Patent Office will be able to theoretically grant patents for genetically modified animal and plant varieties. The agency's granting of patents will have to wait until the 2001 when the Enlarged Board of Appeals, the EPO's highest authority, decides on the appeals case of Novartis.
