Tiny Rowland: an investor's obituary
Article Abstract:
Tiny Rowland held a 20% stake in Lonrho which paid out high dividends in the 1960s until a liquidity crisis in 1971, and the dividend tripled from 1983 to 1989 but the company was again hit by a crisis, in 1991, when its stock price fell sharply. Rowland was removed from the company in 1995. He never used his talents to the advantage of investors except in the initial years. He preferred to fulfil his own needs and carry out personal vendettas than consider investors' interests.
