Executive derailment
Article Abstract:
Several top managers develop personality traits and coping behaviors that enable them to rise quickly through the ranks and seeing their tactics get results merely reinforces and strengthens their behavior. However, over-reliance on these behaviors can have spectacularly negative consequences, known as executive derailment, where managers get themselves fired or relegated, as they are unable to change their behavior to fit new circumstances.
