Food for thought
Article Abstract:
United Kingdom biotech companies have seen drops in their stock prices, following problems at British Biotech. There are 23 biotech companies in the north west of England, and this is a larger base than most English regions, though less than Cambridge and Oxford. Links have been set up with colleges and universities and science parks have been set up. The Manchester Biosciences Incubator is also a stimulus, as is the presence of a number of major pharmaceutical companies.

Ocean International
Article Abstract:
Ocean International has merged with Infogrames Entertainment to create the biggest producer in Europe of interactive leisure products, ranking fifth world wide. The company decided against becoming public in the UK, since the stock market has an ambivalent view of entertainment. A listing in NASDAQ would have meant travel to the US or moving from England. The merger with Infogrames was carried out speedily, and Garrettand Co was the legal adviser for Ocean.
