GAO: DHS needs to tighten special transactions with industry
Article Abstract:
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) demands to tighten over-sight of special acquisitions of new anti-terrorism technologies as its offer to support the fight of terrorism gave the new department authority to establish a five-year pilot program. The recommendations provided by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) in order to rectify the problems are presented.

Pentagon to set briefing for defense contractors on anti-IED needs
Article Abstract:
The Pentagon's Joint improvised explosive devices (IED) Defeat Task Force will brief industry on current threats posed by IEDs, as well as begin to award contracts for new technology to counter these threats. Enemy use of IEDs, or roadside bombs, is the main killer of U.S. troops in Iraq.

Research firm sells mine-clearing drones to Marines

A research and engineering firm has sold new-generation, mine-clearing robots to the Marine Corps. The work on the Nemesis robot is helping the Applied Research Associates, Inc., to prepare for a planned large Pentagon procurement of robots in fiscal year 2007.
